Biography

A biography of Edward was written by Mrs Christina Taylor, a member of the Friends of Broadwater and Worthing Cemetery (www.fbwc.co.uk). It is reproduced in its own article here.

Portrait

The image of the following portrait, from St. Mary's Church in Broadwater, was kindly provided by Mrs Christina Taylor with help and permission from Rev. Irwin-Clark. Though there was no caption, they believed it to be Edward King Elliott based on its position in a chronological series of portraits of previous Rectors at the church, (and there was a familial resemblance to his father). Mrs Taylor was then able to confirm his identity because there is another photograph of Edward, clearly from the same sitting, held by Worthing Reference Library (Richmond Road, Worthing, BN11 1HD). This other photograph was taken by Elliott and Fry Studio (no relation?) of 55 Baker Street, London. On the reverse was written: "Rev. E. K. Elliott" (with "or Elliot?" added in pencil in a different hand) "Rector of Broadwater 1853-1905 - died 1920".
